Four Worlds Dance will present the world premier of It Sure Is Risky as part of the 2008 KC Fringe Festival.It Sure Is Risky is a must-see. There will be three performances:

It Sure Is Risky
Jonathan Jaffe, director and principal dancer of Four Worlds Dance, will premier It Sure Is Risky as part of the 2008 KC Fringe Festival. It Sure Is Risky brings together modern dance, poetry and jazz. As in flamenco, the dance, the music and the spoken word engage in a visceral interplay. At times the audience may hear music, poetry or both. At other times the three arts combine in a living conversation between dancer, poet and musicians. The artists and audience listen and respond to one another. The end result is a performance that has a dynamic, highly improvisational quality. It Sure Is Risky explores the feelings we experience as we contemplate the decay of our civilization. We search for meaning as we search for love.
Four Worlds Dance
Jonathan Jaffe created Four Worlds Dance to express the connections between modern dance and other art forms. From its inception, Four Worlds has created work that demonstrates how communication between artists can amplify their creative energies and allow them to connect more fully with their audiences. The aim is to create contemporary dance that is inextricably linked to the visual arts, music and language. Each of these four worlds individually contains a brilliant life. But together they become a powerful demonstration of unity. Four Worlds exists as a troupe of the highest caliber dancers collaborating and performing with other artists around the world. The company – still in its early stages of development – will be based in Kansas City.

Jonathan Jaffe, Kansas City native and international dance sensation, has performed on stages across Europe and North America. Jaffe has received critical acclaim for his highly physical and sensual style of dance. He mixes primal movement with refined contemporary concert dance to create a language that is both vernacular and sophisticated.
After nearly a decade of performing with top modern dance companies in the U.S. and abroad, Jaffe founded Four Worlds Dance. He is its artistic director and principal dancer. Four Worlds combines modern dance, music, visual arts and language to create intimate, visceral acts of performance.
Early in his career, Jaffe danced with Guido Tuveri’s Sansa Nemo Collective, The Sean Curran Dance Company, and Amir Kolben’s Kombina Dance Company. In 2005, he joined the New York-based Stephen Petronio Company. Jaffe has developed a reputation for being a strong partner and an astounding leaper. His impact on the Petronio company runs deep. In early 2008, Petronio featured Jaffe as the leading man in his latest work Beauty and the Brut. Jaffe's athletic prowess and sensitive articulation were vital attributes for the role.
Over the years, Jaffe’s dancing has received rave reviews in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Village Voice, The Guardian (London) and Dance Magazine.
